    What model do you recommend?

I dont remember the brand I bought, but I do recall it
was the 3rd set that finally worked. The first 2 were duds.
You can eliminate this process by taking your heaviest hook
to the store and see if it will cut it before making the purchase.

These are the bolt cutters I carry. Pretty inexpensive.

We were on St Clair last year fishing a Muskie tournament. Fishing on the east side just south of the border. Netted a nice 39" fish which my partner tried to get out of the net. Didn't take time to put on gloves like usual. Damn thing bit him. 3 or 4 deep lacerations on one finger from the second joint to the tip. Says "she got me". Look back and it looked he slaughtered a pig. His first aid kit was the bare minimum. Between the waves and the blood we used everything in the kit and then some. Finally got the bleeding stopped with an eye patch and electrical tape. Whatever kit you get make sure you double the gauze, add tubular gauze (finger sock stuff) and get some good waterproof tape and antibiotic ointment.

Needless to say, we hit Walmart at the end of the day to buy half the pharmacy...lol.

If you're looking for good hook cutters, look at the Knipex brand. I've seen them in hardware stores and at the musky shops. All the musky guys up north carry them. They are made well and can really cut.

I second Knipex, as a pike/muskie guy they have been used more times than I want to remember. I have yet to see a hook they couldn't cut in freshwater. Also on the water bleeding from teeth/gill rakers we use athletic tape unless its super deep, then readdress back at the dock. All of my kits also contain a tourniquet, I have never used one in the boat and pray that I never have to use one again off the boat but they truly are life savers.

My kit includes a tourniquet, Israeli bandage and quick clot gauze. Thanks for the tip on the hook cutters. I doubt my needle nose pliers would do to well cutting a hook.

I keep pliers t.p and a roll of electrical tape. Any injuries that can't be taken care of with that likely needs true medical attention

I put one in my boat the day after I had to dig a treble hook that was 3/8 inch in my finger. Didn't know fat old guys could bleed so much.

Knipex are the cat's meow, I've cut through 3/16 brake line with the 10 in diagonal cutters.
