I run the XD 100 in my Hpdi it's way better than the yamalube carbon guard imo but it's a little pricey around here.

I use Penzoil XLF but Prem Plus would be fine as well... Yamalube smokes a lot more and shows more signs of carbon buildup.

Pennzoil premium plus or XLF. It goes on sale at Academy quite often.

Penzoil Premium Plus is a synthetic blend and is relatively clean burning.

XLF is a synthetic blend too. I looked up MSDS info on both Pennzoil XLF and PP a couple of days ago. Best I can tell they are the same thing. Now Pennzoil will tell you the XLF has additional lubrication additives if you inquire with them but it appears the ingredients are the same and so are the ratios. I had a large supply of Yamalube 2M which is all gone now. I think I'm going to switch to XLF now but I'm running a carb motor not an HPDI.

I was gonna go from Yamaha to Pennzoil, but cannot get the PZ here very easily, so I went with Amsoil. Have run about 4 gallons through, runs cleaner than the Yamalube 2M, so it seams.

I get the pennzoil premium plus from Walmart all the time. Just have to look for it at different stores some times. Doesn’t hurt to have 5 stores in a 10 mile radius.

Ive got a 04 225 HPDI that Ive always run Yamalube, if I change should I run all of it out of the res tank or is it OK the mix the brands? Also would it be OK to use a Synthetic brand?

I would also like to know if it is ok to mix two oil brands or try to empty as much out as possible. Does Lucas Oil smoke less than Yamalube? Should I stick with the Yamalube? 2005 VMAX250

I switched to Pennzoil Premium Plus late last year, and it seems to run well. I get it from Amazon.

I just switched to Lucas Oil and mixed it with Yamalube. No issues. It does smoke less.
