    Hi New Yorkians,

Is Lake Oneida yet in springtime fishing mode?

If you like ice fishing then Oneida Lake is ready. A guy I work with fished it last week and was standing on 14” of ice out by Verona. Shoreline is crap now and have seen 10-20’ stretches of open water between shore line and floating ice. Oneida lake will be free of ice by Easter at the latest. Most places up here are still locked up, heck I was drilling through 38” of ice Saturday up near Lake Pleasant.

If you want to keep up with with the current conditions Google Sylvan Beach live web cams. Nice live view of the lake with 2 camera's.

I made a loop around it today, big bay to oneida shore is still ice but VERY MUSHY and wet looking plus the river going into brewerton is wide open including the river mouth and the point leading into big bay. The east side is pretty broken apart but still ice and no boating anytime soon. the river on the east side going into Sylvan beach is wide open. Most all river outlets to the lake are open.... Soon we will be all on top of each other catching little brown fish haha

If you're looking for open water try Onondaga. I know at least half was open.
