Any off shore cranking lakes locally?

Kind of an odd inquiry, but being that most lakes are grass around here (northern Illinois), I was wondering if anyone had any lakes they like to power fish deeper cranks on? I've heard Whalon can be decent although a recent decline in big ones apparently. I've heard of people cranking deep weedlines in Delavan, but not sure how productive/efficient this would be, especially when finesse approaches seem to be best.

Oh ya....I forgot to mention Newton . Lake of Egypt as well...they get on the channel swing points pretty good at Egypt post spawn. These Illinois lakes are so different from the TVA lakes (duh, right) because your not dealing with schools of fish and everything that goes along with that (timing, current flow, etc). It's more of a matter of finding an isolated piece of cover (brush or rocks usually) that's sitting at or near a channel swing or significant depth change. Then it's jus a matter of figuring out the best casting angle and trying to trigger the one or two fish in that brush pile to fire on your bait. It's usually a 5-6 cast deal and then moving on to the next waypoint as opposed to a TVA or similar lake where can spend some time on a spot trying to get the school to fire/refire.

Yes it does. People need to realize that deep is relative to the lake !
