From Tr-21 to 19 TRX. Am I making a mistake?

So I'm seriously considering buying a lightly used 19TRX with 200hp ProXS. I've been running a 2001 TR-21 for a long time and I would like to get something just a little smaller and a little more fuel friendly. I also like the wider decks on the newer TRX models. Im just wondering if Im going to miss the TR-21 when Im running in a chop or fishing windy points and off shore spots. Does anyone have any direct comparisons for me? Will the newer 19TRX handle as well as my old TR21? Im not too concerned with speed. As long as I can see mid 60s with two Talons Ill be happy.

I would think the 2 boats are going to be very close in size the wider decks seem to make the boat bigger, the trx will ride better than the tr

I went from an ‘01 TR 21 to a 2013 19SE and I couldn’t be happier. The year model upgrade was nice. A lot of small things make a big difference. Also a much better riding boat.

Is the 19SE the same hull as the 19 TRX?

I believe it is the same Hull but someone else might be able to correct or confirm this. I've seen on several threads that the SE and TRX were the same hull but outfitted differently.

The front deck on the 19TRX has been changed to make it wider. The running surface is close to the same. I sell a lot of 19TRX's, great boat you will like it.

I came from a zx225 skeeter to a 19trx and have no regrets with boat size differences. I lost 5” in length but got 1” wider. The first drive during break in was as rough as Smith Mountain Lake can get and it did well, nothing like TVA lakes or the Potomac or James river rough but was still rough

I test drove the boat today and I really liked the layout and the ride was nice and soft. There were a few things that bothered me though. When I sat in the drivers seat, the boat listed(leaned) over a little but when I sat on the passenger side it stayed level. That didnt make much sense to me since all the batteries and trolling motor were on the passenger side. Do any of you 19trx owners experience this? Im 6'3", 240lbs and my TR21 stays level no mater where Im sitting. Also, Im not sure if the boat was setup improperly or what, but I could only get 61mph out of it. This was with two guys and a full tank of gas, 200hp Pro XS, fury prop(don't know the pitch). I thought we would at least see mid 60s.

Mine has seen 66 with 2 12' talons, 25 pitch tempest, idk prop to pad but full of fuel. Last derby I know I hit 64 with 2 people and 3/4 fuel. It does rock more side to side than my skeeter did but I am 245lbs. Mine has an 80lb fortrex so only 3 batteries total

I have a 2019 18TRX with a Merc 4-strk 200. I too had the weird list to the driver's side. Even when I got out of the boat it still listed to the right (driver) side. So oddly enough Triton had installed a 4 bank MK 460 charger and a third TM battery even though it has a 24V Ultrex TM. Weird. So I removed the third battery (it wasnt even hooked up to anything) and moved all my heavier stuff to the passenger side. It did the trick. Still, when I fish alone, I fill the passenger side live well up and it is level and solid. I wish I had gotten the 19TRX but the garage can only hold the 18. Good luck!

I have a 19 xs and love it... I think the xs has the same running surface the Trx. Mine leans with me a lill. Im 6 4 and 215. The 19 Trx is rated for a 225. If you can get the 225 you will not regret it. You will be in the 70s

Triton 19 XS Elite, 225 Mercury Pro XS, Minn Kota Ultrex 112, Hydrowave H2, Twin 8' Power Pole Blades, Power Pole CHARGE, Lowrance HDS 12 and 16 at console, Lowrance HDS 9, Garmin LiveScope at bow, Mercmonitor, Rigid Industries Deck lights and other stuff to come that will make me go more broke

I bit the bullet and put a deposit down on a new 2019 19trx with the Mercury 225 4 stroke. I pick it up Tuesday. I can’t wait to get it in the water. Just praying I won’t be disappointed. It’s a beautiful boat and is laid out so well. Just hoping it rides and fishes as well as my old Tr21

You will love that 19TRX with that 225. Make sure you get all the Triton benefit programs that they are offering now. Veteran pkg, Federation Pkg, and the Bas Pro / Cabelas gift cards. Congrats on the new boat.

You won't be disappointed. My previous boat was a 06 21X and I went to a 2012 19SE. The deck size is just as wide, but almost 2' shorter and it handles water just the same as the 21X did.

I've been on the tidal Potomac, Buggs Island, Smith Mountain, etc. in some pretty nasty conditions and it does great. Mine has the 200 and with 2 - 10' power poles it does right around 64.5 with 2 guys and a tournament load. Most I've ever seen was 67 I think but that was before power poles and I was alone.

I like this boat much better than my 21X. Obviously it's not as fast, but other than that I like everything about it better. Not to mention, towing a 19' boat vs a 21' boat is much more manageable and getting in between docks and in & out of tight spots on the water is a lot easier.

You'll be happy with your decision!
