    2.5 200 running rich

Got a ‘00 model 200 efi. 2.5 liter. Serial # 0t168021. Running rich at idle. Hard to start. In gear idle is very low to the point of dying. Prop is sooted up on outside for 1/2 inch out of gear case. Runs fine on top end. Comes out of hole quickly . Tach acts crazy or doesn’t work. Warning horn sickly tries to beep every time engine is cut off. Checked fuel pump diaphragms. They were fine. Any ideas?

Sorry. Forgot to add. Had it checked by a merc mechanic when our of town fishing a tournament. He hooked laptop up and said it showed no faults.

did he do a scan of the sensors on the engine to check if they were operating in range, check for broken reed ,vst flooding,TPI setting, fuel leak in injector rails, just a few that can cause rich running mtr hope this helps ya JOE

No but not his fault either. He didn’t havebtime. I was at a tournament. He did look for leaks and check tpi setting I believe. He said possibly a bad ground, a bad trigger or a bad temp sensor. I was just asking to get a consensus of people that may have had the same problem for an idea of where to check first. Would hole shot and top end be good with a broke reed?
