    Question Shallowest hull design

Hey guys I'm looking for a fiberglass or possibly an aluminum in the 18' to 19' range with a 150 HP to 200 HP four stroke. My main concern is getting in the shallowest water possible. Anyone have some experience with some of the major brands express,G3,Triton,nitro,Skeeter, ect. I mainly fish relatively small inland lakes.

If you’re talking really shallow and having to run in that, an aluminum tunnel hull center console would be the way to go. There’s quite a few on the market in that size range. Gator Trax makes some awesome shallow water aluminum boats. Check out their web page.

You might want to look at a flats boat. You can bass fish out of them, and they only draft inches.

Just how shallow do you want to go? My Ranger 198 with a 150 on it will get into less than a foot of water.

The old winner boats! They were flat and shallow if you can find one.

Flat bottom is what you want. Either a big jon type hull or a flats boat.

Speaking from personal experience as a guy that loves to get into skinny water, my Phoenix drafts very little. A previous boat I owned was a 19' Alumaweld with a 150 (same hull as Xpress) and I could get that boat in SKINNY water!

Flats boat. Theyll get on plane in shin deep water. I recommend a hells bay or maverick

I dont think you will find anything that will draft shallower than the wide beam mod-v aluminum hulls on the market today. Ranger, Triton, Crestliner, etc. The pad hull and step hulls just sit a little deeper. These mod-v can float in 8 to 10 inches of water if not loaded down extra heavy. But you will give up some rough water capability and these boats that sit on top like a leaf blow around in the breeze like a leaf also.

Typically a glass bass boat with the gas tanks under the seats instead of all the way in the back will draft shallower.

My bullet use to float in like 4inch of water or something like that. Had to push pole cause TM blades couldn’t even grab enough water to propel forward. Lol.

Might take a look at the ActionCraft 1790 or 1890. The 1790 has a big deck and in my opinion fishes very easily with 2 on the front deck. 24v hand control trolling motor will run it for a long time in wind and current. Has good freeboard. Performs great with a 115 F series Yamaha. About 44/46mph great fuel mileage with a Yamaha F115. Don't know about a 150. Much less expensive tha HellsBay or Maverick. Lots of them out there 20 plus years old still going strong.
Dont own one but fished out of one many times. Great boat!
