I had a 2000 model 2500 company truck with the 6.0 and I got 324,000 miles out of it before they replaced it. They had to rebuild the transmission twice and replace the water pump twice and I went thru three or four idler pulleys. They replaced it with an 09 with the 6.0 and its still going strong with 180,000 on it now.

I wish I would have got 3.73 I have an 04 with 4.10s average 10 mpg towing my light 20' Bullet I really don't need 410s when I bought it I wanted to get a 5th wheel I could pull the boat behind but never did it. too much hassle and money for the time I have to use one.

I'm glad I got the 3.42 gears.... I liked the 3.73 gears in all of my trucks since 1988. But they had 4 speed transmissions and 5.0L-5.7L motors. I never needed any more pulling power than these gave me.

I have one in my 2017 GMC this is the first one and I'm glad I got it. I was fearful of gas milage but with multi gear tranny I'm averaging 17 hwy and city and get 24mpg on the highway doing 70MPH, towing the rig I still average 15 depending on where I'm going.

What is the difference between the 6.0-6.2?

I pull with a 6.2 and have been impressed compared to my last Ford 5.4, even getting better fuel mileage. It seems redundant that GM offers a 6.0 and a 6.2?
