In IL you need x amount of hours of training to get a concealed carry permit.

Not a scam. You'll get a carry permit signed by an actual Nigerian Prince!

And as part of the deal you just send $5000 USD and he'll free up the $6 million he's holding in your name.

I'd be willing to get you a Tri-State permit for only 5 questions.

30 rounds? That's funny. No permit required in VT but I took a class several years ago for permits in other states. I was the only one that signed up for the class. I took 500 rounds of 45 ACP ammo with me and burned through over 300 rounds that day. We finished up the regular part of the class/shooting early and moved on to clearing a building, moving targets, etc. Was an awesome day!

Personally, It wouldn't have mattered to me if it was 30 or 300. I get bored unless I'm shooting at clay pigeons. I brought a .40 Springfield XD which is not my favorite pistol to shoot. Hit my target 30 out of 30, but 21 out of 30 was passing.

The shitty thing about IL is they do not recognize permits from other states BECAUSE of the lack of classroom training. I will say this. The class opened my eyes. My dad took me to the range for the first time when I was 5 years old. I am now 50. In those 45 years, for the most part, I have only thought of guns as a sportsman and not as a weapon for self defense. Completely different thought process. I'm glad I took the class.

Here you pay your money and wait 30 days for the City, County, State and FBI to check your records for a reason to refuse to grant the permit for CC. But 30 days, yes or no. When I went on day 30 or 31, the volunteer at the desk said "The FBI hasn't replied yet, so..." at which point the real clerk elbowed her out of the way and said "30 days is all we get, so here you go!" No class, no range, no training, no booklet about who you're allowed to shoot, why or when.

I always looked at it as more of a permit to carry a gun loaded in the cab of the truck on the way to or from shooting at targets, or at least legally allowed to have gun and ammo in the same carrying case. Part of successfully growing old is learning to stay out of sketchy situations, while being prepared for it, just in case chit goes wonky.
Don't bother me, I'm screwing for virginity.

I killed a 12-pack just to watch it die.

Kentucky just passed a constitutional conceal and carry bill. Anyone 21 and older lawfully owning a hand gun can conceal carry with No permit required. Of course you need a permit to carry like this outside the state.

Good deal but I'd encourage everybody to go take a CC course. Really informative about situations where you can and cain't shoot. Plus covers any other laws you need to be aware of in your state.
Even though I'm not required to. I take a refresher course everytime I'm up for renewal.

I have no problem with background checks, classroom and range training for concealed carry. I wish Illinois would reciprocate with more states.

If you're referring to the guys that will help you get a Virginia non-resident CCW permit- yes, it is legal, to the degree that they state that it is.

Reciprocity in something like 27 states now - used to be more. I too, would prefer that CCW holders have gone through classroom/live fire instruction. But then again, when I did mine locally, a lady was loading rounds into her borrowed Glock 19's magazine backwards. 2 hours at a range isn't going to fix that.
