So $2.5M for a dead guy or $75k for folks not YET dead? Little pricey for a statue isn't it? How about no $ for either until the bills are paid?

Don't despair, my city just spent $170 million dollars on streetcars ......... so the downtown hipsters can ride them on beer pub crawls.

Our burg bought a wore out one off EBay for $7,000. Spent untelling what restoring it to running condition. Then realized the driver had to have CDLs. They sent 3 people to CDL school to get a license to drive it before they had one to pass the test. They drove it in circles 10 hours a day for 2 months with only 7 people total riding it. They finally rented a storage unit and parked it except for special events the last of which they used it the trolley broke down and had to be towed back to its garage.

In the above scenario, reads as though one of the politicians™ friends and/or family is a Sculptor specializing in fast food moguls, You really ought to see His $5.6M Ray Kroc who dwarves over the McDonald brothers, probably a tongue-in-cheek shot after Kroc screwed them out of their dough...

Its downtown real estate developers who are prospering. They rushed to buy up properties along the streetcar route, and are now cashing in.

And they better before the novelty wears off, because these things will be junk with no riders in a few years.

That's called "I know a guy..." . It's a horrible condition that runs rampant in governing bodies. Politicians may start their terms with good intentions, but 6 months and some dollar signs later they're all slimy slugs.

Our town wanted a police mobile command vehicle with a $70k budget. They found one in NJ for $65k . In stead of putting the savings back into a fund they had a mural of the town square wrapped on the side, an awning put on, and an additional A/C unit added to the roof to get to $70k. Mayor flew up to NJ and drove it back. The only time I think it was used was after they fixed it up and showcased it at the Crawdad Festival. We raised our city sales tax a few years ago and now all the first pretenders and slab washers want new equipment and costumes plus a retirement raise that I have to pay for with my personal property taxes.

Solution: Start a rumor that Col. Sanders was a Confederate officer in the Civil War. Problem solved, the local high school students will tear it down within a week.
