    Bird transducer modification

    Does the top of this transducer need to have an air gap between it and the trolling motor like it was originally ? Making some mods and was wondering if automotive urathane would effect its performance if some ended up on top of the transducer ??

    The upper surface shouldn't matter. From just seeing the picture, I'm amazed it still works...LOL

    I fish pretty shallow 90 percent of the time .. rarely use the front finder .. wish they made a quick disconnect for the transducer for the 10% of the time I go out looking deep

    Looks like you made your own quick disconnect. It's the quick reconnect that's the hard part!
