Would like to take my son there in a couple weeks and try to catch some small mouth. I've never been there and didnt know if anyone give me any pointers on the best way and maybe witch areas I should try. Thanks

As u may know - it’s been 30 feet more or less high for the past several weeks but Corp making progress. I’d go to sandy or pea gravel flats and grind and wind a 4 inch swimbait— no doubt u will catch
Where are the sandy or pea gravel flats?
From burnside to the dam- whole lake has them and whole lake has smallmouth; a lot of bluffs will end in them as channel swings, if it’s all underwater look for sycamore trees and fish around them
In a couple weeks it should be prime time to catch smallmouth. The lower end of the lake will have your best smallmouth fishing. You have tons of coves and points on the main lake and the creeks has tons of cuts/pockets and coves. Once you figure out what type bank they're on you can find multiple places just like it. The google earth view I use to look at Cumberland is a few years old. It shows the lake a few feet below summer pool so it's easy to tell what a bank looks like once its covered with water. I use that map to find various different types of structure.

Thanks guys. Just trying to put something together for my 10yr old son. Appreciate y'all's time
Go to Dale Hollow. Throw a green crankbait or spinnerbait and hang on.
They’re biting pretty good at Cumberland guys.

Thinking about going down this weekend is one end of lake better than the othwr?
According to two different friends it was better Saturday from upper to mid lake & lower end was better Sunday. I personally would have more faith in the bite being the best on the lower end. Usually is this time of year & then when it gets bad tough in the heat of summer too.
does anybody know if water is clear in the backs of creeks near the dam .
Last time I was there 2 weeks ago everywhere I weren’t was light to heavily stained with some looking like coffee. I had a buddy tell me that Indian had every color imaginable including clear. I’d say you can find decent looking water easy enough according to what he told me.
I went to dale today- was pretty tuff but we scratched a few out. Buddy has caught 11 so far in his first hour on c land and keeps texting me of an ongoing beatdown
