Question James River - Shad & White Perch

Any reports? Thinking of hitting the I-95 bridge this weekend....

Today’s rain sure doesn’t help. Conservation Officer Robinson has not heard of any Shad as of last Friday. Need some intel from Nottaway system to gauge Richmond timing.

Pretty sure you won't be fishing the James river this weekend

I looked up the Westham gauge this evening, still will be 9 feet on Sunday. Looks like it's Sandy River or Briery Creek time...

Ancarrow ramp is silted in as bad as I have ever seen it. Can’t get out or back in at anything less than half tide. And that is pushing it. Plan to launch down river.

We launchedcthere about late afternoon and had to haul trailer down to Dutch had to retrieve. Did catch 36 hickories on gold or chartreuse spoon. Watched another guy tear them up on a green crappie grub. Didn’t matter where. Below the ramp, at the rock or at 95. Everyone was catching them.

I always launch at Dutch, it's not a bad ride up or back. We didn't do as well, only caught 13, all on white/red shad darts. I'll have to try the gold spoon later this week.
