    Megabass Addermine and Ronin

Got a gift card to burn.
Looking to get 2 spinning rods. Looking at the Ronin for throwing 110's and the occasional 3/8 -1/2oz jig with a 4" chigger craw type trailer.
Also looking at the Addermine for a dropshot rod.
I would be throwing mostly 3/8 - 1/2 oz weights with a 4 " keitech style bait. Vertical fishing but mostly cast and drag.
I'd appreciate any input from anybody with experience with these rods.
Also what else are you throwing on them ?

Have 2 Addermines and they are flat out badass. Drop shot is perfect for them, I've been throwing 110s on them this spring and they work great for a jerkbait and handle big fish. It doubles as my crappie rod as well and with the tip you do not tear the bait out of their mouths.

I have an Addermine. I use it for a dropshot, shakey head, 1/8oz t-rigs, tube, and light swimbaits. It's a phenomenal rod.

Thank you both for your input I appreciate it.
Will it handle a 1/2 oz drop shot weight with a 3 or 4" keitech swim bait ?
Unfortunately there are no dealers around here so I can't even look at one.

It's towards the upper limit of the rod, but yes it will. When Lake Erie starts getting nasty I often have to jump up to a 1/2oz on my Addermine if I'm drop shotting.

    Thanks
That's as heavy as I throw. More often a 3/8.

We just added these two US Destroyer spinning rods to the lineup this week. If you have not had a chance to hear about them here are some brief descriptions.

F2.5-76XS Flyssa-taper:fast, lure rating: 1/16oz-3/8oz. Line rating 4-10lb- rod is ideal for sweeping hookets with light line, great for hair jigs, finesse swimbaits, deep water dropshotting. Great choice for Okashira Screwhead etc.

F4-74XS Brigand-taper:fast, lure rating:1/8oz -5/8oz, line rating 6-16lb. great for bottom contact presentations like the Dark Sleeper as well as football jigs, tubes and swingheads.

I have two Addermine's and they are my favorite finesse rods. Better than my G Loomis's.

Yes, but if you're throwing 1/2 oz cast and drag type presentations on a spinning rod you'd be better off going with the new US Destroyer Brigand than the Addermine or Ronin. I LOVE the Addermine, but realistically, 1/2 oz is a strain on this rod especially adding a Keitech 4" swim bait. You need more power than either the Ronin or Addermine - even the XX Enforcer is a better option due to that upper end in my experience.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it.
Unfortunately I think those are both to long to fit in my rod locker.

I’m also interested in a Addermine for finesse application but I read a review on it saying it’s definitely NOT a light action drop shot rod.
Can anyone who has one relate to this assumption?

Im personally looking to throw Ned rigs with TRD’s, 3-4” spark shads and for light drop shots.
Would this rod be perfect or slightly stronger for my applications?

    thanks guys!

I haven't picked up a addermine yet but did get the Ronin.
I've only had it out once yet throwing jerkbaits.
    Wow this rod is nice

I've got both and each is fantastic. I use the Ronin for 1/2 oz topwaters and jerkbaits for stripers (inshore). It's perfect. Great action, lots of backbone, and wonderful tip. I've used it for bass and it's a very versatile rod. The Addermine is also superb. I use it for Ned rids, drop shots, pretty much all my finesse presentations. I had an NRX 852s and it may have been a bit more sensitive, but everything else about the Addermine is better (IMHO).

Both rods are very comfortable for all day fishing. These are my only two spinning rods and they handle everything I can think of for me.

Check out the XX Whipsnake. Best in-class imo
