    Mercury Outboard Manual (with Poppet Valve Info)

    I’m looking to repair/replace the Poppet Valve assembly on my 1989 Mercury Black Max 175 hp V6. Serial Number 0B383305. My factory Mercury Service Manual has nothing on this topic. Nothing in my Clymer’s Shop Manual either. I have a parts diagram/list from my parts supplier but that’s all. Any help much appreciated.

    If you have the Clymer shop manual that covers 45-225HP from 1972 - 1989, you'll find the poppet valve on page 248 in diagrahm Figure 119. It shows the two types and how they go back together.
