    Ranger rt198p

Ok guys after months and months of trying to decide between a 1880 vexus or a ranger rt198p I have decided to go with the ranger. I'm going in the morning to see if I can get it. I'm just worried about the mercury 4 stroke.

If I was worried about the motor I would think twice.

What the concern about the 4S? The boat is good. I've driven one.

I have one on my rig almost a year now, but let me say I have very little hours on it.....NO Problems with it. But I will say & its only my opinion is that a Yamaha is a little stronger motor than the Mercury, but there is nothing wrong with the Mercury 4 stroke.

I have a Mercury 115hp on my Triton TX18. I bought my boat new in December 2015 as a leftover and that was the first year for the new 2.1 liter 4 stroke. I've I've had it for over 3 years now and have about 180 hours on it.
The only failure I've had was the trim unit was replaced last year due to not trimming down while under load. It was a common failure and some of the trim units would also leak down when sitting. Mercury replaced a lot of trim units on the earlier models but I really haven't heard of any issues with them lately and they probably fixed the issue with the them.

If your talking about a new boat i wouldn't be worried about the motor.

    I love my G2 but i wouldn't hesitate to own a 4S Merc!

I have a 2014 Merc 150 4S Have not had one issue with the motor. 2014 was the first year for that motor as well. Very strong motor that you want to make sure and prop at the high end of the range. I would buy another one.
