No Bass Cat Boats prefers them as well. I also miss a hand throttle for long idle speed spots and graphing!

Once I started using my Evinrude G2, with both hand and foot throttle options at the touch of a button, nirvana. I’d used hot foot for nearly 20 years and wouldn’t be without it, but there are situations where the hand throttle is more relaxing. My buddy has a Verado with a similar option. Both systems have their advantages. The advantage of the hot foot is safety at higher speeds and during sharp maneuvers, such as crossing boat wakes.

In very rough water the hot foot is a must. You have to feather the throttle to go up and down big waves.

I think its the nicest safety feature around. the thought of hands on the wheel at all times, just like driving a truck. In rough water its a must to have I think for sure.

I can’t imagine going to back to boat without one. Would be like going back to a hand controlled trolling motor.

I’ve had both. I really have no preference. There are times I prefer one over the other. Some view them as a “safety” device but they can get stuck and fail which IMO is more likely to happen. A regularly checked kill switch and a good life vest are better safety devices.

In the end, I could easily live without it.

Foot off the pedal in no wake zones, floored when not in no wake zones.

I need neither. I need a toggle switch.

Trust me you don’t want to tackle big rough water without one. Two hands on the wheel to react and maneuver , while being able to throttle up and down simultaneously. I personally wouldn’t own a rig without one..

If i had a motor that could switch between both, I'd use both. But since I have a choice of one or the other, hot foot 100% hands down.

Rough water or when there's debris on the lake from rains both hands on the wheel and quick throttle adjustments are necessary. Not to mention running wot. If I'm running 75+ down the lake and something happens the last thing I want to do is take a hand off the wheel or be delayed in reaction time.

The only time a hot foot has gotten me in "trouble" where a hand throttle wouldn't was a couple weeks ago. The lake finally cleared so I could test my setup with a new prop and had a gull come from the left side of the boat and bounce off the windshield. Saw it just in time to duck before it hit and when I ducked over out of the way I chopped the throttle a bit and it upset the boat but it was easily corrected.
