    NAPA Battery

For you guys using the Napa commercial battery #7234 how is it holding up to being charged after each tournament ? as not being a deep cycle battery I'm curious as to how well it's holding up.

Mine is 2 years old and no problems. I run 3 big Humminbird graphs all day and they have never shut off at start up. I am very happy with mine.

2 perfect years. Starts my motor faster than any other battery I've ever owned, even after 2 years. I highly recommend to everyone. Great price for a beast of a battery.

Do they make a 27 series? Hate to change battery trays.

I actually have the same Commercial battery from Advance Auto. To me it is the best bang for the buck, Graphs and livewells all day and still has no starting issues

I bought one 2 weeks ago, drove 2 hours to the lake last weekend and damn thing wouldn’t start. It’d turn over, but sure did sound odd. Jacked with it for 30 minutes and finally found the problem. The kill switch had come off. But at the end of the day, my graphs did read a little less voltage than the previous battery had, previous battery weighed 15lbs more and cost $50 more.

Sam's has a commercial 31 size battery also in the Duracell brand.

A thread like this really reinforces the the value of real world feedback from BBC members. According to some experts on other forums here, these commercial batteries are not supposed to be good for long term use in a bass boat because of their different composition of the lead alloy. They are not supposed to be able to handle constant re-charging. Obviously there are a lot of users who get very good longevity from this inexpensive flooded battery that will work well with a power hungry Optimax.

My last Deka/Napa commercial crank battery lasted 4 years. I replaced it last year with the same one.

Although they only need watering occasionally, make sure that you pull off the label to expose the caps so you can check. Don't use them as a maintenance free battery as advertised.

The Sam's Duracell commercial battery has lesser specs than the Napa 7234.

Anyone have any experience using the Napa commercial Battery 7234 to run a Lowrance HDS LIVE 12 using Active Target on the bow, and HDS LIVE on the console? I do not fish tournaments so I will not be running the livewells. I also have an 98 Mariner so it will not charge the batteries well while running either. Any advice appreciated
Just remember it's not about the fish but they sure are fun to catch.

It will be fine. I run 12" garmin w/ livescope, 2 HDS 9s, livewells all day, power poles. I'm also adding a third HDS9 (so 4 graphs now) and have no doubt it will still hang. I've used this battery for 5 years or so now. I get a new one every 3 years whether I feel it needs it or not. Just some extra security in my mind.

The only lead acid batterie's I currently support is X-2, allmost every lead acid marine/deep cycle battery sold to day only has a 90 day warranty, seems as though in the last year these batteries have a hard time living much over a year, cant believe the number of early failures I am seeing, used to see four years or more
Time to convert to lithium's 100 percent.
Lead acids are no longer a viable affordable choice
    Thank You Leon Pugh
