    Bass boats with no livewells?

I was just reading a thread about the livewells in the new Vexus boats and it got me to thinking. With the popularity of MLF-style tournaments where no livewell is needed, as well as those bass fishermen who do not fish tournaments at all, do you think we will see more bass boats that at least have the option of having no livewell? For smaller bass boats in particular, you could add a decent amount of storage by taking out the livewell. Just curious what others think about this.

I don’t think so. Even if it’s not a cooler could use for a livewell. Id think resale would be horrible. Maybe guys aren’t tourney fishing but fishing with bait or keeping some perch or crappie. In 5 years maybe they start designing them different .

Nope. Resale would be terrible. Imagine that.. A fishing boat with no livewell.

It might be an option on some brands, but I highly doubt that it will become the norm, especially for tournament guys. The MLF format is just not user friendly to most local tournament trails.

No reason you cannot block off the pumps/hoses to keep it dry and use it for a cooler or to store stuff if you don't use it as a livewell. That way you can reverse the change when you sell it.

Good points...I guess I never thought about resale value. I wasn't thinking of something like this becoming the norm, but an option that boat companies would possibly offer as an alternative for those that wouldn't use them.

I dont think you will see a bass boat without live wells. If they do anything it would be a better option to keep them dry so you could use them for other stuff.

Some people use their livewells to eat the fish later.

I expect to see a new style live well that is flexible/inflatable to fill with water when needed and evacuated/collapsed when additional storage is desired. It's coming.

I would say in the future it is possible. Tournament fisherman probably makes up less than 20% of those who purchase a boat. Legislative changes towards tournaments could also impact the sport of fishing.

If you don't turn on the pump, it's just a storage box. Use it any way the owner wishes. When my ice maker leaked, it turned a crisper drawer into a livewell.
