    2007 200hp HPDI

Looking at a boat with this engine on it. Has 280 hours and looks really clean. Anything that I should be concerned about. Compression checks good and just had a tune up performed. I’ve never had one of these engines so any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

280 would be low hours for an 07 and not overly high for an HPDI. I've an 06 250 but it had a new factory head before i purchased it so i'm at about 80hrs. Maintenance is key, replace the filters and the water separator filter in your boat. Prop to 5950-6000rpm. I run 91 non ethanol fuel along with RingFree and Marine Stabil. I also use Penzoil oil as it burns cleaner than yamalube. Everyone has opinions but i'm happy with what i do.

I bought mine with 286 hrs. I have double that now. New plugs, main boat filter and engine mounted filter. As stated above. A good fuel stAbilizer, ring free and 87 or above octane. Mine runs beautifully.

The HPDI really likes lots of both oil and gas. To prevent "detonation" use 89 octane with, as stated above Ringfree and Marine Stabil 360 (or your choice of fuel stabilizer)
Maintenance is of utmost important with these motors.
