    Live well color

My boats live well is black which makes it difficult to see the fish. It would be great if I could do something to make it a lighter color without taking it out. Has anyone ever done such a thing? I don't want to do anything that would be toxic to the fish.

I would install an LED light in the livewell before I tried painting it.

Put a white suction cup bathmat of bottom! Did that in one of my old boats years ago. Take it out 2-3 times a year and scrub if it gets funky.

    "bathmat..."
Simple, effective, cheap... I'd be the guy painting it for the better part of three weekends.

I was actually thinking about Flex Seal. White bathmat and LED light...... the fish will be movie stars. Of course the light would be off until I needed it. Thanks guys for the ideas.

I've never understood a manufacture doing black livewells or even the dry boxes, rod lockers etc...

    True story

I’m 17 years old and fishing my first club derby as a non-boater at McClure. First ride on a bassboat to boot.

Old Skeeter livewell has black plastic.

Boater wanted me to experience the whole thing so he graciously let me bag all of our spotted bass and weigh the fish.

Left one one in there. LOL

The guys in the club never let it go and I was ribbed on for it. Totally deserved it too! Haha.

Glad I learned that lesson when nothing was at stake.

I think a black livewell was once/still is thought to calming to the fish reducing stress.

I have the same issue with my boat. Was thinking of using white bilge paint, that stuff is tuff as nails.

Yea and then open them and the fish go nuts. Jumping out if you're not careful. The white livewell is much better imo

I tried the white mats and they didn't help much.

I use fish the floating markers in tournies so it don’t matter. Only have 5 fish anyway unless draw event.
    Mine is black too.
