    Which trolling motor prop?

Currently running a 105 lb motorguide x5. Which is the most powerful prop available? I fish only in heavy current, rocky rivers, so weedlessness is not a concern. I strictly want the most thrust from my motor. Thanks guys.

Tried kipawa, it was really bad, unbalanced and wobbled when you spin it. Right out of the box. I used it for 1 trip and tossed it in the trash.

The aluminum machete is probably the best performing next best would be the glass filled machete, then the cheapo plastic walmart machete.

I tried them all on a 36v Motorguide Great White.

Aluminum Machete made a bad squealing noise.

Plastic blades would self destruct or loose balance on the first nic. Blades would flatten out with the power meant a slower top end.

Glass filled seems to be the best middle ground prop. They are much stiffer and able to handle the extra power than the plastic cheapo prop but dont make that harmonic noise of the aluminum prop.

    Part # MGA089B - Plastic cheapo
Part #MGA089W - Glass Filled White
    Part # MGA089G - Glass Filled Grey

If you order from Amazon expect to have to ship them back. They like to advertise them as glass filled but send you plastic. Double check the model number on the packaging.

Have had much better luck ordering from HodgesMarine.

Also recommend having a half round file on hand to file the edges and any nicks off the blades.

I had the same experience on a MG. I found the 2 bladed Safari to be the most powerful, and weedless as well.

I have the safari on it now, and notice it has less power than the 3 blade that was previously on it. Has anyone tried the two blade power prop? What about getting a Minn kota prop and modify it to work with the mg?

I'm planning on ordering a few of one type as I go thru one every few months- lots of shallow rocks in the river.

I use a Kipawa Prop in heave cover and the stock plastic in open water lakes. But, I run an Ultrex. Haven't had any vibration problems

Those Kipawas perform very well on MK’s,I don’t know why there would be an issue on MG though.

The absolute best is the Motorguide Metal Machette prop. All others are about the same but the metal one is awesome.

The aluminum 3 blade machete hands down. All the plastic version deflect quite a bit on the 36V motors, but the aluminum is stiff enough to hold its shape and stay as efficient as the design allows it to be.

How do they hold up to rocks?

. Pretty well, they will get nicks but so does a plastic prop.

Ran a kipawa on my 109 lb tour MG, loved it. Never had any vibration/balance issues. It did provide more thrust than the 3 blade plastic MG, due to the more aggressive cupping and prop design.

Will the Safari prop be OK to use on a MG Tour 109 lb instead of the machete prop?
