tried on a I phone with 5 bars and internet and still got mostly buffering and freeze ups with long pauses in between small window of live feeds. Was it that bad for most watchers or just my poor connections?

Flawless here all 3 days. On I phone and 2 different I pads.
Worked fine on my phone
Watched all day today on MacBook Pro and it was perfect.
Flawless here also, even when I put it on my 60" tv.
No issues at all here.

Sounds like your phone may not have enough Ram
No issues with me, and I was on hotel WiFi majority of the time.
Worked for me better than it ever has and I live out in the sticks

Mine worked just fine on my I-pad, but it must have been running on slow speed ‘cause the weight in dragged on and on and on.....

I was able to watch some of the Live Mix and a little of Live. The weigh-ins however were a different game. It never stopped buffering; so I didn't see a single minute of any of the days.
This was on my Chromebook using what is supposed to be internet coverage compliments of ATT.
Flawless all weekend on tv via WiFi
