I just installed a new mercury vessel view mobile on my 2005 Optimax and it is showing 4 fault codes (see below and added pics). I was hoping to get some help in understanding what each of these mean, possible solutions, and which ones require trip to mechanic prior to taking boat out on the water. I know the sea water temperature was flagged as possibly need additional smartcraft sensors to work properly so hoping some of these might be ghost codes. Thanks in advance for the help.
2005 Mercury 150XL Optimax
Serial # 1B055459
Fault Codes:
131 - Legacy: Engine or drive trim position
75 - Legacy: Level sensor tank A
82 - Legacy: Oil Level Sensor
104 - Legacy: Sea water temperature
My 2011 115 Opti had two codes when I installed a VV mobile: oil level sensor fault and pitot pressure fault. Neither affect the running, but I don't know if I should spend time chasing the cause or not.
I can erase them and they return immediately on restart.
Each of those is a "Ghost" Fault. The PCM does not see the (optional) sensor on the system, so it is logging the faults (with no related warning horn as they are OPTIONAL sensors).
Turn those particular faults off (you can set them to be ignored in your Vessel View Mobile App).
NOTE TO OTHERS: Do not apply this information arbitrarily to other engines/configurations as the correct answer MAY differ from one setup to another.
