    Monster crappie!

Thought I had a world record today when I reeled it in. Came in a little shy at 3.71lbs (had to borrow a scale at the ramp) We took pictures and then released her. Kinda wanted to mount it, but maybe if it had been over 4.

Ha! Well in effort to fund my future adventures - I caught it on a 1/16th oz head w/ a Bobby Garland baby shad in "Ghost" color

What a pig of a crappie. Kudos on letting the big sow free to hopefully keep the big crappie genetics repopulating.

I was honestly tempted to keep it for the wall before I borrowed a scale and weighed it. I was even thinking about trying to get it to Bass Pro to see if they would buy it for their aquarium. I would love to have made a replica, but didn’t have a tape measure or even a good measuring board (just a crappie checker). We got a late afternoon start and were just trying to get a few keepers so the best option was just to release it - I did get a video of the release for the memory.

Awesome fish and kudos on releasing it. It can't get bigger or reproduce if it ain't swimming in the lake. Good job!

How long was it? I have never weighed a crappie. I usuaklly catch 2 or 3 monsters every year but have no idea how much they weighed.

We didn’t have a measuring board other than the crappie checker. Guessing probably 19” or so. I’ll post a pic
