    Thumbs Up Adding trailer brakes.

19' bass boat single axle trailer. I tow with Toyota Mini Van. Tows fine 65-70 mph no problem with ramps but brakes suck. Was thinking of adding surge brakes to trailer. Trailer is in great shape. Question is, is it worth to retrofit brakes? Are surge the way to go?
    Thanks

I’d say yes and yes. What kind of tongue does the trailer have and does the axle have a flange behind the spindle with holes in it to mount brakes?
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

I added surge breaks to my single axle. Makes a huge difference. I had to buy a whole new axle because the original didn't have brake mounting flanges. Probably dropped $450 total with axle, calipers, hubs, brake lines, actuator, wiring harness upgrade. Money well spent if you ask me.
