    Optimax wiring help

    Serial 0T688190 Optimax 135hp

Im trying to fix someone else’s wiring mess..I have a wire that is tied in to the CONSTANT hot that feeds the master power switch. It is at the console. The wire is red and looks like 14ga. It runs back into the motor. Can someone tell me what that wire may be?

There is no wire in the factory or traditional rigging that should be what you have described.

The BOAT'S Master-Power switch should be wired totally and utterly separate of the engine (direct to battery or overload-protected circuit power).

14ga would be pretty light for a master-power switch, regardless.
