    New Vexus Owner...Evinrude G2 Etec

    I'll start off to say I own presently a Ranger RT188 with Merc 115hp....I just pulled home a 2019 Vexus 1980 with Evinrude Etec 150hp G2 HO.....My coworker and friend is purchasing my Ranger as soon as I get it back from the shop. It has twice been in for a leak on livewell system.... Ranger has always been my favorite and Mercury motors....But I have done a 180deg and gone for what I feel after riding the Vexus, to the last boat I'll ever own!

    The biggest differences are two-fold....#1 The Evinrude is so torquey, it will push you back in its seat. And #2 is the ride of the pad hull on the Vexus. It lifts like you wouldn't imagine and is so soft riding even in considerable chop.

    For the ones who throw up price difference, it just isn't so....Rigging a Ranger similar to Vexus, you are looking at near same price. Honest, I did the math. I have two Helix 9's, Ultrex Minnkota, Atlas hydrauic jackplate, and hydraulic steering... Below are the pics! gobblr addict

    Congratulations to you and I wish you well on your purchase. Hopefully she will serve you well for the long run...

    One thing that I need to point out, though, comparing an RT188 to the V 1980 is not a fair comparison. One would have to compare ride, performance and fish-ability of the RT198 (pad hull) with the V 1980, and I bet they are very close, would come down to preference, dealer / mechanic proximity, etc...
