    CORRECT PROP ?

New last year, everything is 2018. Alumacraft Comperitor 185CS, Yamaha 150. Dealer put on a Mercury Tempest Plus 19p, said they like them better then Yamaha’s props. Runs 48mph +/- (gps) at 5400rpm’s ready to fish with full fuel.

Should I look for a different prop to get me closer to the 6,000rpm’s which is max or stay where I’m at.

Any and all recommendation are welcome and appreciated.

Analogs are quite often off, get the tach accuracy verified before making any decisions based on RPM, needs to be verified at high RPM not low speed

How does one go about getting the accuracy of a tach verified?

A 150 hp motor should spin a 19 pt prop pretty easy . I’m thinking your motor is bolted straight onto the transom at the lowest setting if so raise the motor one bolt hole higher . Rpms should go up . The tempest prop runs very good on Yamaha engines.

    Dealer
    Buy a Marine digital tach.
Buy a "Tiny Tach" for testing purposes.
