    Retirement Move (IL to SC)...

Well, after 30-years working for an international company in the suburbs of Chicago (+11 years with previous employer = total 41-years) - My wife and I will be soon moving back south to Lake Wylie in Rock Hill, SC. We'll be closer to kids, grandkids and aging parents + be on the water which was/is a life-long dream. SC house already purchased (under renovation) and the move is pending the sale of our house here (not an easy task in the high-tax IL market) but we'll get 'er done soon....

I'll continue to do some contract work remotely a couple days a week but look forward to learning how to catch bass on the 2004 Bassmaster venue out of the 198 with a little more free time...

Location and Siggy has been updated + Couple of pics of our fixer-upper below...

Only problem I see about moving to SC is the ad valorem taxes on boats that'll take you to your knees. Hopefully the lower cost of living in the South will lean in your favor.

Congrats Mike! Nice digs, the ad valorem tax varies by county so don't get too jazzed up. York county may not be too bad. When I lived in Anderson county the stopped charging tax on boat over 13 years old.

Thanks Fred - Let's just say that the real estate property tax difference alone between IL & SC will be like getting a $1,000/month raise - Therefore, I'm not worried in the least about the property tax on the 198, the Jeep or the car
