    Question 1998 LS-195 Splashwell crack?

    Hi All,

I'm looking at this boat, I've not personally inspected yet, but this is one of the pics I got from the seller of the splashwell. He also sent pics of both sides of the transom/splashwell and other than a standard stress crack in one corner, I don't see anything of concern.

However this series of cracks in the splashwell have me wondering, just stress cracks or potential serious problem? This year hull is the same as the Stratos 295 I believe, and while not really prone to transom problems, what can you guys tell me about issues with this year hull and transom?

    Thanks!

From what I can see that big jackplate has taken its toll on that transom. There has been a lot of movement to crack it all the way across the well

I think it's a 10" jackplate, I've not personally gone to look at it yet, 2.5 hours away. They look like more than a stress crack, but wondered if other HS owners have seen this on the year/model.

I would say it would warrant further investigation but i doubt it is a real problem. 20 year old boat? it would be more surprising if their wasnt cracks.
