Power poles or Talons for my Nitro Z7?
Power poles or Talons for my Nitro Z7?
Good luck. I've had both and still can't decide which I want for my new boat!

I’ve had power poles before and they were great! Customer service is the best but like the talons also just don’t have any experience with them
It’s a personal preference. I have owned both, we sell talons. Both do a great job and keep you anchored which is what they were designed to do. In my opinion, looks is the difference, straight down deployment or angled deployment. Also consider one has the hydraulic lines to run and one runs off of the battery. If you want Talons hit me up, if you want poles hit up K&K.

We agree ...only the customer can make that decision to choose what suits there needs best, we sell Power Poles and only Power Poles.. always take weight into consideration. Want poles we can offer you the countries lowest pricing and best customer service..Talons there's no better source then FTO marine.
Personal experience
Both are heavy and will change the way the boat sits and rides with the heavier Talons being more noticeable.
If you have some ability for upgrading your boat the first choice would be the Ultrex (52" again from experience)
When the Graphine Batteries finally come on the market you will likely need the Talons to get the boat to sit properly again.
Well I wold take some prices on both talon and power poles if possible 2 8ft black ......
I had two Talons on a Ranger 492VS and now I have two 10' poles on my Ranger 521VX. In my opinion, the poles hold better in a cross wind and I believe they are lighter. D-Wayne is right, I use my Ultrex 90% of the time unless fishing beds.

Im am in the market to get an ultrex.... thats a must!
The Ultrex has made it where I use my poles much, much less. If it were me, I'd do that before poles.

If you have a 150 on the Z7, I would definitely go with the 8' poles due to weight. If you have a 175 or even a 200 then either would be fine. I went with 8' blades.
If I were outfit a new boat of any size it would be an Ultrex and 8' blades in that order.

Had both.. everyone I know that has poles has had an issue with them not coming up... I have a bad pump now on a boat that has 36 hours... had talons for six years and zero issues... I think the poles hold a little better
Never had an issue, they all get stuck in mud for sure.
With power poles just drive forward and they come out, if the pump does not pull them out. Cannot do that on a Talon. Had power poles on my boats for 10 years, regularly put over 100 hrs on my boats each year, Not 1 issue.

I've owned both, small issues with both, great customer service with both. For me fishing a lot of 8-12ft of water i will choose talons just because of the holding depth. I also do like that the talons are a bit quicker, to reach holding depth, and that they shoot straight down when i'm fishing the Mississippi in HEAVY vegetation. Can't go wrong either way.
