Using braid to Floro leaders with Daiwa TW reels

I use braid to Floro on every set up I have. Anyone have issues with the leader knot getting caught up with TW guide system? I usually run a longer leader so I don’t need to retie a leader after a few break offs. Improved Albright is a pretty small knot. I can always go to a shorter leader if needed.

The knot only tends to get caught when reeling up. No TW specific issues when casting.

Fg knot works for me. No issues getting the knot through the t-wing going either ways. I use 30 lb braid to 15 lb fluoro

I use the fg also. Only time I feel it is passing through the rod guides.

No issues with an Alberto. I also don't go any longer than 6' leader so the knot never gets to the real.

Always used a modified Albright and also kept the shorter leader length to not have the knot in the reel. All good, no issues. After reading up on the FG knot, going to give it a try this year

From what I’m reading the line guide is plenty large enough for the Albright to pass through at .62. I should have the reel in a few days so I’ll find out for sure.

Just an update. 20lb braid to 12 lb floro with the improved Albright goes right through line guide easily and smooth. So the knot is a non issue.

I'm glad your experience has been the same as mine. As much as I dislike braid to FC leaders in general, they aren't a problem at all with the Daiwa T-Wing reels...

It was the Tactical Bassin guys who started the whole T-Wing doesn't work well with leader knots storyline... but sounds like it's not an issue. I rarely use braid to fluoro expect on spinning so I've never run across the issue.

I use the crazy Alberto/lazy Alberto depending on who’s naming it. 40lb 832 to 14lb flouro and I have had issues reeling the knot in but never casting. I just try to keep my leader knot just above the reel and retie as it gets too short. I do dislike having an extra knot!

40lb braid. Holy cow man ya fishing for Tarpon or marlin? Try some 20lb braid and your problems will go away. Your other option is 40lb Hollow core.
