Ultrex US2/MDI conversion

Made the mistake of getting an Ultrex built in US2 but want a built in MDI. Are you able to switch out and if so is it easy?

No sir. The two trolling motors are different with different control boards and different lower units.

I got a definite NO from Minn Kota. They said not even as an upgrade from the repair center. I wanted to do it myself. I think it is marketing that won't approve. I told them I would pay lots but they were very adamant. If you hear something else please let me know. Bob

You should probably consider selling your current Ulrex, then buy new Ultrex with Mega

Just mount the mega ducer on the bottom of the trolling motor. Minnkota makea an adapter plate and clamp. Its what I did on my ulterra.

I doubt I want a neat looking trolling motor that much. Will probably go with option 2. Mine is an Ulterra. Bob

I just added the external MDI. It’s a lot cheaper to replace the external than the built in after you hit a stump/rock or other objects and damage your trans. You can pay the $200 or so for the external and replace your safe in 15 mins or you can pay a Minn Kota repair place hundreds of dollars and days of waiting for them to do it.
