    2005 zx225 top speed?

Running the Yamaha t25 prop, 1 talon and 1 full tank and full gear with two people. What should my top speed be at 6k rpms?

at 6K 74-75mph, but that combo wont do that as you listed. 70 is respectable, and your rpms should be around 5700.

So should I not be able to hit 6k all trimmed up then? What is my limit I will hit with that setup? I don’t think I’m getting anywhere close to 70. But I rarely open it up all the way. I know with that motor I need to run it wide open.

Way too many variables to give any type of accurate answer.

Took boat out today, gear, two people, empty wells, 1/2 tank of gas. All I could get was 65/66 mph all trimmed up. Motor sounded ok, didn’t cut out or stumble. I checked speed with depth finder and navionics app on cell phone. Any ideas? Is that about right? Think something could be wrong with boat or motor? Thanks.

Is your engine an ox66 or hpdi. Im not sure when they changed. Mine is 06 hpdi. I have engine data on my hds gen 3.
    Good luck

You either have your jackplate too high, or your prop is trashed. That boat should run 70+ mph.

Well, you're not far off. A jackplate adjustment might help a little, but the rest will have to come from the prop. If your prop is stock, you could possibly pick-up another 2-3 mph from a good balance & blueprint.

When I go to adjust jackplate do I need to go up or down after I mark the original location of it as a baseline?

I had to go back and read this thread again to piece together all the facts. I was originally thinking that you were running about 6k rpms @66mph. If I understand correctly, you got up to 66mph @5700 rpms. If that is correct, then I would go up 1/4". If that doesn't help, then go a 1/4" more. I still believe that the prop is the main problem, but small jackplate adjustments could help a little.

I have the same boat/motor and can only manage 64 @5800 with the stk T1 25 prop. Believe its 2" below pad. Half tank or gas and livewells empty.
Now i do have an extra battery (36v) and heavier trolling motor (ultrex) but thats all shes got. Ive changed every filter on it, even the mystery filters and no change.

I've tried a 26 turbo prop with some added cup and got 64 at 5300 rpm.

Always wondered why it wouldn't do more like others say, but no biggie to me.
