Cardiologist just came in....said still things to determine like meds..fluid retention...how much function the heart will regain when they retest her in about 3 months...she went from 66 percent before heart attack to 25 percent ... but all things considered he said she is doing "exceptionally well"..BP has been good since yesterday..she's out of afib more than going in it...said her heart sounded good this morning...normal sinus rhythm...still a long road..will do cardiac rehab when released.
If all maintains today..she will be moved from icu tomorrow into the cardiac care unit...they put a picc line in last night..(had to do it twice because the first time it was not placed like they wanted)..due to one of her meds causing intense pain in her regular iv line..will get her up moving a bit today.. she is worn out and been thru the ringer...but hanging in there....
But both docs very pleased so far...feel very hopeful based on how she’s doing today she'll regain some lost function...Dr. Lynch said the reason her stress test a week ago appeared normal, basic explanation-was because both arteries on either side of the heart were equally blocked..so when they looked at the stress test they did not see any difference in the two arteries so it looked somewhat normal...
She'll still have to be on all the medications, checking the fluid retention every day...blah blah blah...but he said it could have been much worse than this outcome.
Icu doc also very pleased and is going to start backing off some meds to see how BP, etc. sustains..She has been working on losing some weight this past year and lost about 40 lbs, today she has 19pounds of fluid from retention that’s just part of all this...that “pissed’ her off.....no pun intended...
Keep em going..they’re working !!
