It's only affecting the ones trying to play the system, not people that actually make a permanent move to Florida.

Don't have much confidence in this thread surviving but.....

It's pretty obvious what the next step will be for NY. Reduce taxes? No, don't be silly. They'll sue Florida for unfair tax rates.

I hear a certain New York congresswomen's mother moved to Florida to flee the high taxes of the state... Seems a bit hypocritical that the MSM hasn't reported this since the congresswomen is pushing all kinds of new taxes and regulations with something called the "New something Deal"... Dan

While she pushes for no planes she was interviewed in the airport getting on a plane, that’s the socialist way.

Tell that to the roughly half of the people audited who were found innocent. You think it doesn't cost time and money to "participate" in a cavity search audit? Having to prove where you were at any given time. When did you buy the food in your freezer? Were you living in FL or NY when you visited the dentist in NY? My in-laws were New England snowbirds for several years and they'd plan trips back north around appointments, special occasions, etc. so I can see how complicated an investigation would become. A lot of people would get burned on the phone records. I guess to beat the system you need a plan to get around that with paying cash for everything and using burner phones from Walmart.

My retired parents split their time between NY and Florida, they've owned homes in each for 40 plus years. While NY has a higher income tax, Florida has a higher property tax.

States don't run on sunshine and happy thoughts. They tax their citizens one way or another. Income tax, property tax, sales tax, county tax, fees, etc...

Edward Kennedy's estate was determined in FL. I know many MA state troopers with FL plates. it's bold but true.

    This says it all.

We had a Florida businessman who sold all his holdings in Kansas and since he had an apartment here the State took 42 million in taxes from him. The State supreme court ruled we now owe the man 48 million for taking his money improperly. He proved his residency was Florida but the State said since he had a apartment, gave to the local charities and churches he was a resident. They were wrong. The man did a lot for the Kansas City area, glad he won.

It's time that the people of New York actually start paying attention to what all the liberals they elect are saying. One of them recently cost Long Island 25,000 jobs and billions in revenue.

65% of the counties did not vote for the governor or AOC. They were elected by the other 35% of the counties that are all around NYC or Albany. Since the majority of the population is downstate, everything up here is forgotten about or an afterthought. Even if every person upstate voted against the governor, it wouldn’t matter because they lobby in NYC and that’s where everything is won. Most people up here are so tired of having their voices ignored, they don’t even bother to vote because it won’t make a difference. Unfortunately whatever NYC and downstate wants, the rest of the state has to abide. The reason there’s a giant exodus happening is because of high taxes and ignorant laws. But according to Cuomo everyone loves to pay NY taxes and only move because it’s cold for 3 months out of the year.

At the same time, New York can't afford to lose many millionaires or billionaires. The top 1 percent of earners pays 46 percent of the state's income taxes, and Cuomo said that "even if a small number of taxpayers leave, it has a dramatic effect on this tax space."

and there are people who say the rich do not pay their fair share......

Same with CA. Two regions make all the decisions for the other 3/4 of the state....and then we get jammed up on BBC as needing a wall between us and the other 47 states.
