    Swim jig setup??

Right now I use two different ones depending on if I’m fishing vegetation or not. 7’mh Lews with a Daiwa Fuego CT 7.3:1. #40 braid if I’m fishing grass and #15-#17 flouro if I’m not. What are you guys using? I’m thinking of going with a longer rod and maybe a bit heavier when fishing grass. Most of my swim jig fishing is on the Upper Mississippi

Depends on what kind of areas im gonna fish. Shorter rod like a 685 for targeting, and a 7'3 H for longer casts. Always 50lb braid and a Calcutta200GTB, or my OG Tatula.

When i head to the miss the only rod i throw swim jigs on is a cronos 7'3 MH with a zillion SV 7.1 and 40lb 832. The cronos baitcasting rods are super crisp and it's so easy to pop weeds off your jig, or pop your jig off the weeds with just a quick flick. This rod does it better than any other i've tried.

In grass I fish a Megabass XX Perfect Pitch with a Steez A 7.3 spooled with 50# J-Braid.

Docks/Sparse cover Megabass XX Diablo Spec-R with a Zillion SV TWS 7.3 spooled with 15# Abrazx

When fishing grass, I use a 7 foot MH rod with an 8.3:1 Lew's reel spooled with 50 pound Izorline Brutally Strong Spectra braid. I'm working the bait with the rod and need the high speed reel to take up slack. When fishing more open water, I like a 6'6" rod and a 6.4:1 Lew's reel spooled with 15 pound Izorline Platinum.

My dedicated swimjig setups are Megabass XX Diablo Spec-Rs (a Gen 1 and a Gen 2), Steez SV TWs and 50# Sufix 832 braid. If I'm fishing them in clear water for smallies, then I'll pop in a spool of 14# Sniper FC.

I run 7' MH with 15 floro for years, going to try 30lb braid this year and tie a leader if needed. Not yet convinced that is best but will find out. Tatula CT 7.3 seems to about right. Tatula CT 8.1 gets me going to fast when I get nervous.

I've been using a 7'2" shimano expride. Its heavy action but has a moderate fast taper. I really like it with 50lb braid. The softer taper gives me just a little bit more time to let the fish get it before I lay the hammer.

Really depends on if your using it around wood or grass. Here we have no grass, so I’m always throwing my swim jig around flooded bushes. I use my spinnerbait rod, which is 6’10” medium heavy to allow for precise casts. I use 20lb floro. If I was using it In grass in a little more open water I would be looking a 7’2” ish length rod in a medium heavy with about 50lb braid.

I have the gen 1 and its one of my favorites is the gen 2 better to you? I also have a gen 1 emtf Thats also a great swim jig rod if you like the 7'5" length. I had a gen2 braillist i did not care for is why i would like to know the comparison for the dsr gen 1 and 2

This ^^ with braid. I've built a ton of different swim jig rods on different blanks and the best hookup ratio with braid is always a Moderate or Moderate fast blank. 5 power + popping blanks or spinnerbait blanks work well.

Are you using the 7'2 MH glass or 7'2 Heavy expride?

7'2"H. When I bought they had offered a heavy action with moderate fast taper. I don't see tapers listed on there anymore though.

3/8 and under I use my 7’1” BPS Platinum rod&reel med-hvy/fast, 8.3:1. Super light, very accurate and I can throw it all day with no fatigue.

I've got about 6 months of use with the Gen 2 and I've come to prefer it over the Gen 1 for swimjigs - in fact I haven't tied anything else but a swimjig onto the Gen 2..... I find the Gen 2 to be a little more robust on the hookset but it still has the "magic tip" for skipping swimjigs that made me fall in love with the Gen 1. My Gen 1s aren't going anywhere though. There aren't many days where I don't have a couple of swimjig setups on deck and I like chucking chatterbaits on the DSR as well.

Someday I'll try an EMTF (or Javelin) but for the most part I'm not a fan of rods that length. I just find them unwieldy.
