    Trailer question

Hello been a year or so since I was here, been enjoying catching up on what’s happening. I have been pretty sick, but I am retired and doing some better. I hope to fish some this year. My boat has been sitting for a year and my trailer is pretty dull looking. Boat has been covered in garage. Is there a product that anyone is aware of that will clean and shine my aluminum trailer. I have an X18 with less than 10 hours and it’s 2 years old. Hope to change that soon. Thank you.

As far as restoring a shiny finish, I’ll side with rocket man. I’m not familiar with the backtracker trailers, since I used a repurposed rangertrail. Oxidation of aluminum is normal. In aviation we use “alclad” aluminum that resists oxidation/corrosion. If you do decide to put in the time and effort to polish the trailer, be sure to seal it with a clear coat to prevent/prolong the inevitable. I would just accept it myself. I’m usually towing the boat when it’s dark out, so no one sees it anyways. We used sulfuric acid to clean the pontoons, which would only accelerate the rate of corrosion by stripping the metal of any corrosion prevention type coatings.

I buffed mine X19 with white diamond it looked almost like chrome. It can be done have to have a buffer. Didn't take but about 3 hours. Good luck

All I know is a buddy who had a boat shop cleaned a lot of pontoons with it and I used it on my aluminum wheels on my truck, never saw any turn white.

I get it at Walmart in the car wax dept. I use a wool pad on the buffer. IT IS A DIRTY JOB . but it will make the trailer look better than new.
