    Lea again.....

Not even sure where to start. She’s been home since last Saturday March 2. Still dealing with meds and low bp. Last night had chest pressure but every thing else seemed to be reasonably ok. This morning, March 7th, she had chest pressure and then became nauseated. Called rescue..back to ER. So in Er she was still doing the afib thing.

Nurse comes in to do ekg. I look and see her eyes roll back in her head and alert nurse and doctor in hall. Then the worse moments of my life proceeded. She went into full cardiac arrest. Manual cpr started with a nurse on her bed pumping her chest. Paddles came in. Now comes concern she might throw a blood clot if they shock her but no choice because her heart has stopped.

Cardiologist called down. Emergency heart cath procedure. Two major blockages. Repaired those. Stents. Doc was shocked because her stress test here a week ago did not give any indication of any of this. So she is in ICU now. Stable I guess you could say. Thankfully no stroke issues and she’s talking, etc. Obviously her chest hurts from the cpr and every other damn thing that happened today...I have no earthly idea where we go from here and what’s next until we see the cardiologist tomorrow. There’s still the afib issue which is separate....

Actually that was the original plan...but because of the initial clot and stroke, they wanted to wait 30 days to make certain if there were any clots left in her heart they would clear before any conversion attempts including shock, abalation and afib meds to convert, pacemaker, etc. They were afraid if they did anything the clots would break loose and go to her brain again. They wanted to just keep her heart rate and bp under control..and they put a special monitor on her to keep track of the rate and any accompanying symptoms. But when she went in to cardiac arrest yesterday obviously there was no choice but cpr. Thankfully no clots, no stroke happened. After they did the cath and cleared the blockages, so far since then, no afib present.
