Need help on fish and ski setup

I have a 2017 Triton 220 escape with an Etec G2 HI 250. It has a 6" jack plate and the boat came with a 21p Raker. It is very fast out of the hole and at WOT I will hit 6000rpms @ 62-64 mph.

I know I can get more speed out of the boat. Any help/advice would be appreciated

whats your current Pad to prop height?

Fish and ski set ups are a little different then your average bass boat.

21P prop seems kind of small for a 250 motor. i'd imagine you have to keep your trim down a fair amount to prevent it from over reving?

I am 3.5 below the pad right now. I can trim it all the way up without worry about over rev.

have you had someone check to see if your motor is set to the right height via the cavitation plate when your at wot?

from what ive read you should be able to pretty well over rev the motor at full trim a touch and or atleast start loosing top speed.

Your getting the right peak rpm for sure. but if your using full trim im going to assume your motor angle is too high and its hurting the top speed.

have you tried playing with your pad to prop height? 3.5 seems to be the more common spot for a F&S boat but maybe try it out at 3.25 or 3"

also easier to have someone with you either driving or checking the to see where the water is at on the LU when at wot.... (moniter water pressure as well if applicable)

from what ive read if your cavitation plate is still in the water at "Speed" the motor is too deep... (maybe i got the wrong name for what im thinking off...)

doesnt need to go wot.. but needs to be at a decent speed on plane

im by far no pro at this.... im adjusting my motor height for my boat as it is so just been doing some reading on what others have reported...

6000 is to many RPMs you are on the limiter. You need to get a taller prop and get your RPMs down off the limiter. Borrow a rake HO 23 and see if you can get WOT down around 5800 5850....

An RX4 would be a good prop too. You may find once you get off the limiter you can raise the motor a little (Depends on water pressure). Remember your boats center of Gravity is further forward on the pad than a pure bass boat so you will need to lift the bow more. If you do that with the engine trim you are wasting forward thrust. You an help this with prop selection. But you will always run a little slower than your bass boat friends.

Thanks for the replies. I have an rx4 22p I haven’t tried yet, so once the lakes melt I will give that a shot. I know I’ll never be as fast as the same size bass boat, I just knew I could improve my setup.

6000 is not over revving that motor and with a 21" prop and 1.85 gears your right on the money at 62 mph. That's a heavy hulled boat so you need to try a 22" Raker not a 22 four blade if you want more speed.
