    Caymas Boats

Am I the only one excited about the Caymas boat set to be released soon? I think it’s gonna be exciting to have a couple of new boats in the market.

As a spectator, I'm more interested to see what Earl comes out with as opposed to the cookie cutter that Vexus is going to release... Dan

find it odd that some guys with bullets strokers an allison oats tend to call other boat manufacturer cookie cutter boats the afore mentioned boats have had such little change in the product at last 10 yrs hard to see ay changes in the boats. the major boat manufacturers are trying new things to motivate buyers all the time to increase their market share. the high prices of boats that they bring is the results of a lot of marketing otherwise we would still be fishing out of 14 to 16 ft bathtub style boats. more options is always better for the consumer.

This is just my OPINION. If more than a few boats are coming out of the same mold, it's a cookie cutter boat. If your hull came from a mold that was especially made for you (my buddy did this) and the mold was then destroyed, it's a full on custom boat. Again, just my opinion.

Same here. Bring on as much competition as possible to ALL current manufacturers. Will benefit all us consumers.

When most say cookie cutter they mean all their boats look the same. Like Skeeter giving you 8 boat color combo to choose from, or Ranger holding you to certain color combinations for certain packages... And if you stray from those it's a big up-charge... With Bullet and Stroker, Norris Craft, Ballistic and to a certain extent Allison, you can order any color under the rainbow at no charge at all... Next time your at the ramp and a large tournament is going or coming, I guarantee you there will be multiple Rangers all the same color, same with Skeeter, Nitro and Triton. You won't see one Bullet, Stroker, Norris Craft, Ballistic or Allison with a sister boat there. It's not a knock, that's how they control some of their cost... More power to them... And of course no one destroys a mold after one boat. Back in the early 90's Mac Crumley at Norris Craft told me he had over $100,000 invested in a single boat mold...

And I can only speak of Bullet, they come out with quite a few new models in the last few years, XRS, SDC, SST, SS... If it works why fix it???...

Yeah I know Its a massive upcharge of $450, most people could not afford that.....Believe me you are getting charged whether there is a line item or not, its built into the price. I also agree I only see 1 or 2 of these boats mentioned a year, therefore not likely to have similar colors.

All boat companies get very limited use out of there molds, trying to figure out why this is a big deal. Molds get destroyed after only a few hulls are made from them. Of course the all have a master mold to make molds. Its a big part of any boat building operation.

I would think the master mold that you create the boat building molds off of, I'm sure are rather expensive considering considering the R&D that goes into these. I'm sure every hull any boat company make is the same as the one made before it.

Again... It's not a knock... I can walk into a Bullet dealer and say I want a teal hull with mauve metal flake, pink, errrr I mean fuchsia logo stripe with lavender metal flake, pinned in orange with yellow metal flake, blue carpet with red, green and silver seats... And I'll rig the engine, trolling motor and electronics in my garage. After a 5-6 month wait and no massive additional $450 up charge, I'd be pulling that baby back to the house... Try that at BPS, they'd laugh you out the door... The Bullet dealer would just laugh at me behind my back while they place the order with Bullet... Dan
