It great they found another use for them but until it becomes profitable to harvest them commercial fishermen will stay with other species that pays the bills.

I see more commercial fishermen going after carp now than anything else.

Not sure how this is going to help if the are going to be using the by-products from the carp that are already prossessed. It may help if they buy carp specifically to grind into Ashe

They are using whole carp for the fish meal not just the by product.

If they make to carp too valuable they will not want to get rid of them.

Looks like it'll be a while before we have to worry about that.

Been following the 'War on Carp' people, and they're working hard to get this problem under control.

Some people say the carp aren't really that much of a detriment to the bass, crappie, bluegill, etc. They're still there, you just have to fish different to catch them. Others say the fishing is just in a down cycle due to weather patterns and poor spawns. Most believe Asian carp are the culprit.

Regardless of which is right, or there's some combination, the Ky/Barkley area has been hurt economically because fewer people are going. I've got a friend who put his Barkley place up for sale. Heard he caught like 5 bass total over several fishing trips, and I know the guy is a good fisherman.
I want my ashes sprinkled in the lake...might as well try to get em to bite one last time.

This is correct, and to be honest already happening. Once the government got involved and started handing out subsidies the mills decided to start using selectable harvest techniques to insure they dont deplete the money source.
