    2016 Ranger RT 188

I'm looking at a 2016 rt188. It's a nice looking boating for a pretty good price. It does have a debt in the back of the boat where the previous owner backed into a dock.

How does everyone like these boats. How do they ride and what should I look for?

As in any welded bassboat, I'd first start at looking at all the weld seams.

There are dents...then there are DENTS. And it depends where.

Regarding the boat, they are hard to beat. If it wasn't, I would have gotten rid of it. I've had it almost 6 years. Fishes great.

You might post a picture of the dent. Some places - no big deal. Some places - maybe a deal breaker.

I'll see if I can post a picture. It's on the very back of the boat. As if the boat backed into a dock.

That had to be upsetting but not a deal breaker for me.

    My opinion....for the $.02 it's worth...
There are angle aluminum transom braces welded to the transom and floor frame in that area. It could have broken a weld on one of the braces. Also the braces are welded at the floor area. If that damage forced the transom bracket into the floor with a lot of pressure, then in my estimation you could be looking at a problem later on. I would buy it IF IF I could get it dirt cheap..... Then I would take it to an aluminum welding shop and have them look behind the dent. It would not surprise me if you are looking at an insurance claim and they are trying to get rid of the boat for the insurance company. I would only consider it if I got it dirt cheap. There are just too many used boats out there without damage to take that one unless it is a HECK Of a deal. That thing took a pretty good hit.

I appreciate the replies. I've decided to go a different way. I think I'd rather get a boat I'm not as worried about.

That's a 3-4k under comparable boats dent in my opinion...likely a smart move to look elsewhere.

Not sure that boat will go in reverse fast enough for a dock to do that. That had to be a hard hit!
I agree it may have caused damage to the supports for the transom.
