    Yes.

Ever since I've started using this as backing, the instances of 'overruns' has diminished.

It seems to load on the reel better for some reason? Ergo, the reason I use it as backing.

Backing on every reel. Pitching and jig reels have more than cranking reels.

Yes... Count the number of handle turns it takes to retrieve the bait after you have thrown it as far as you can. Add about 15 to 20 turns to that and the rest should/could be backing.

To be honest, I have not done that "backing" but this is something I might do. I might just get some green or red line and use that for backing.

And my bigger spinning reels too. No need for me to change any more than half the spool

Yes. Put backing on every reel I own. Floro gets re spooled 2-3 times a season. Braid gets flipped half way through the season. I don't get multiple years out of braid, but I do get a full season.

Are you guys taping the braid to the spool also? I though tying braid directly to the spool would cause slippage.

I use old line for backing, any kind will do just don’t tie braid to the spool. Tape it or unusual I put at least a few turns or old line then tie on with a modified Albright knot or a double uni

I use the bright green line for backing so when I am stripping off old with power line stripper I can tell when I start to get close to the knot that I tie the new line to. I had put enough green backing on so I could get 3 reels filled on a 200 yd spool. Now I buy a 1000 yd spool but the system still works for me.

None. When using braid, tie direct to spool, add a patch of electrical tape & done.

Mono backing on all bc’s with about 100 yds of braid and a 6 to 30 ft fluoro leader. Flip the braid end for end every two years. Same deal on my spinning reels.
