Question Kitchen Stove - Gas Top or Electric Top?

With new build we have the option for natural gas. Planning on natural gas furnace and water heater. Never had a gas kitchen stove top. What's your thoughts/ experiences? Pro and Cons? Safety? Energy Use? Thanks

This i my first house with gas. Go with gas. We like it better than electric. Although you could get induction cooktop also. With gas furnace, fireplace, tankless Hot water range. We average about 60$ a month. 2600sf 4 bed, 2kids,1 dog house temp average through winter is 69°. All lights are LED and power is 70-80 a month. If this is your first new construction home, you will like the energy efficiency of them. Last house was 1100sf all electric 250 a month. Gas is nice...gas dryer if you have that option. I will next time.

Quick edit...if you have kids or dogs, I repeat DO NOT KEEP ANYTHING ON TOP OF GAS RANGE. Knobs are in the front. My dog has bumped ours on and we alerted our neighbors via their RING doorbell Smoke detectors were going off. FD showed up with Police. Again, dog went for food on stove and turned on. Low flame was smoking a food box left on top. House filled with smoke. They even had the child safety devices put on theirs.

There's NOTHING I like about electric ranges. I'd rather use Propane if Natural Gas isn't available.

Gas is best for cooking. Also if you loose power you can still make coffee and cook.

Gas as long as you take proper precautions.
If you’re sloppy, lazy or have kids .. electric.
And if it’s electric, do an induction cooktop.

Gas for sure. We tried an electric cook top and hated it with a passion.

Our new home will have gas.

It's also a better option if you frequently use iron skillets.
