It’s an 18’ boat, do you really need brakes on all four wheels? How much can it weigh? I drug a Sabre FTD around on a tandem with brakes on one axle for several years and it did just fine. Most of the guys here say you’ll need a diesel 3/4 ton to pull it anyway.

A lot of manufacturers do one set of brakes.

To be honest never gave it a thought. Mine came with dual disc brakes. I just thought every new dual axle would have breaks on both.

As far as having dual brakes I like it and they really help.

Oh well I learned something today.

Learned to spell today too, lol.

Let me qualify myself, I own a Legend Alpha 199. With that said there is nothing wrong with a Nitro. Really a sharp looking boat and I imagine that if I had a 20' Nitro I would catch just as many fish in comfort as I do in my Legend. I could probably say the same thing about any late model/new 20' boat.

Why do people knock Nitros? One reason could possibly be that for me to buy a premium name boat over a comparable Nitro is I'm going to pay quite a bit more money for the premium brand. For most people to justify the price difference they must now knock the Nitro. My wife and I own a Cadillac XT5 which is basically the same vehicle as a GMC Acadia. My Cadillac costs more than my best friends Acadia. Since my Cadillac cost more does that make the Acadia a piece of crap? No it doesn't. Had I bought an Acadia it would get me down the road probably as comfortable as my Cadillac. I just WANTED a Cadillac and was willing to pay more because they cost more. Take out the 'I want' factor, then my buddy was a lot smarter than me (I am smarter than him) for buying the Acadia. Same as a late model Nitro vs a premium brand boat. (I am using the term premium brand loosely). Guys don't knock the Nitro owner because their boat is a better value than a high dollar brand, just say "Hell I Wanted XYZ brand."

Some states require all axels to have breaks. Pretty sure that's state law in Florida. I just bought a new aluminum trailer for my TR-21X Triton and the trailer manufacturer told me I had to have breaks on both axles.

Amen to that... and those saying buy a used other brand boat....problem is your also buying a used engine. That’s where 95% of your trouble will be. I’d take a new Nitro with a NEW motor than a 4 year old ranger with a 4 YEAR OLD MOTOR. Just how look at things Anways.

Beautiful colors on that boat though.

I have a single axle under my old 19.5' stratos. It didn't come with brakes, so on long
trips i just stop and give it a break every 100 miles or so.

    Sharp rig...

I'd have to get the red decals on the outboard changed out to match the blue (or the silver) accents on the boat.

A new Ranger Z185 with a Fortrex and 150 4S retails at 35,700. Not quite apples and apples in equipment, but pretty darn close by time you load it up. The Nitro is a good looking boat, but at that price there are plenty of great 18’s to choose from.

I believe when it come to value on a budget you cant beat the nitro. I can guaranty that the listed price is negotiable. The new design is much more appealing!
Many talk about the resale, but they are cheaper than all other manufacturers, so loss is close to others.

My buddy has a Z18 with a 150. Stable fishing platform and rides well for a less than 40k dollar boat. A boat is a platform to fish, it does the job just fine!
