    Fortrex

How much trouble would it be to change a 52 inch mount to a 45 and get the shaft shortened. 80 lb fortrex. Thanks ahead of time.

There is no difference in the mounts. The only real difference is the shaft. Saw on here once where someone had done exactly what you are describing, but don't remember details. A few searches might turn up the details on how. Think it was cutting down the shaft and rod

Not quite, the bolt pattern is the same but the longer shaft also has a longer mount. You’d be better off to just buy a shorter shaft and have it installed, they are pretty cheap.

As stated above the 52" Fortrex has a longer mount than the 45. Is your Fortrex 80 a hand or foot control. shaft on a hand control is pretty easy to shorten. On a foot control not so. It is easier to just replace it with a shorter shaft. Cutting is not the problem. there is an insert in the FC shaft so the pinion gear will attach to the shaft with 4 screws. The holes for these screws will have to be drilled in a perfect cross and depth for the screws to fit properly. The 45" Fortrex will fit on the longer mount, just will look odd.

As Brad said, it will fit, but there will be no shallow water adjustment without having to drop the motor every time you stow. The longer arm of the 52/62" mount will pull the lower unit on the 45" shaft up too far on the motor rest to stow properly.
