    Boat Seats

Who has replaced/upgraded/updated their fish n ski boat seats? Mine are starting to get a little crusty, rip, and crack. I am looking to replace them but want to stay on a budget. The seat package for my boat is around $850! Hard to justify for a 2004 boat. I have a 2004 Nitro 188 sport.

Can I use generic seats for the captain's chairs and the back seats to save some money as long as the bolt patterns match? I dont mind modifying the seats a bit if needed. I was at Cabelas yesterday and they had generic boat seats for $50 each that I was going to put in the back 3 seat/bench area. Take the bracket off the original seat and put it on the new seats.

Any experience would be helpful! I would like to try and get it done for around $500-$600 if possible.

Or would it be cheaper to just get my seats reupholstered? Has anyone had that done?

    Thanks guys!

I took mine to an amish guy around here - he actually did a custom boat cover for me and his brother in law redid my seats. I think the seats were around $400 total. That's for the 2 front ones and the center middle rear seat and both sit down fishing seats - on my old nitro 288 sport.

I did, i just dont know how the quality compares to having someone local do it with some middle grade vinyl. I dont need anything fancy, but want it to last a few years.

Can find a bunch of different captain chairs and regular flip seats, but need to make sure which ones will fit the bracket and overall size.

    Has anyone used bassboatseats stuff??

This is the best I've got. What I did was make a cardboard template, then used (2) 3/4 birch plywood that I had laying around. I sealed it with waterproofing and carpeted it. It was just pressure fit in there, but I could still lift the compartments with no problem and it never moved or blew out or anything. it was awesome - really made a difference when fishing the front deck. Added so much more room - even though it wasn't that big. Plus I could store my tackle bag underneath it.

Here's another - you can see it held me just fine and with the (2) layers of 3/4" plywood ended up being flush with the rest of the deck.
