    Question Nanofil line

I know it is advertised as a spinning line. Has anyone tried it on a bait caster for light weight baits? If so what did you think of it?
    Thanks

I did, tried it on spinning and casting. It is way too stiff to be worth messing with. Unlike braid on a spinning reel, it shows line twist terribly.

I use a Shimano Spirex spinning reel and have no problems with line twist. As for a casting reel, there are better options

I will go with I have never had line twist using it and have used it on my spinning rods for years.

I use a TON of NanoFil on spinning rods. Frankly, it's just too thin for casting reels. Even the 12lb I have on my spinning reels is the size of Seaguar InvizX 6lb test. I don't think it would lay well on a spool and would dig in badly.

As for twist, it's less affected by twist than any braid I've used.

Use only on a spinning reel as it has a slick coating on the line that helps it peel off the spinning reel. Power pro is much better in the 10 or 15 test for bait casting

It WILL cut thru itself on a baitcaster. It's designed for a spinning reel

I love it on a spinning reel. I dont think it would work well on a casting reel though. I used fire line on my spinning reels until I used nanofil. Nanofil just casts further for me. I dont have issues with the way it handles either.

I use it with a popper on a spinning reel. Longest casts I've ever seen.

IMHO, Nanofil is best on spinning outfits. A matter of fact, I think it excels in that role. You'll get great distance on your casts, and good sensitivity, as advertised.

I've been using it (10 lb test) with an 8lb test flouro leader since it came out and have caught endless 4 and 5 + pound Smallies and Largemouth, jerkbaiting mostly, and wouldn't even consider changing to another line. Good stuff.

Spinning it is great, wouldn’t use it on casting. Not sure how someone has twist issues with it, never had any.

Two quick questions on Nanofil. Does a palomar knot work on the terminal end? If you use a floro leader will a uni to uni work?

J- Knot for joining the lines (Nanofil to Flouro) and a San Diego Jam Knot for leader to lure.

The palomar will hold to rated strength of the line no more-6# rated line will hold to 6#knot strength.
I use a doubled over FishNFool knot and 6# will hold to 9# knot strength and 8# holds to 12# knot strength. So the type of knot will make a difference.
I dont use leader so no input there.

The only thing I found it good for was making pull loops for wrapping guides. It's actually a pretty fantastic material for that application
